Motorcycle License Abu Dhabi: Requirements, Training & Steps
Getting a motorcycle license in Abu Dhabi follows the same general framework as a Light Vehicle license — eye test, traffic file, training, and testing — but with a dedicated motorcycle category registration and training course.
Step 1: Eye Test and Traffic File
Every applicant starts with an eye test at an approved optical center, then opens a traffic file on TAMM, selecting the motorcycle license category during the application. Our full walkthrough of this step applies the same way to motorcycle applicants: How to Open a Traffic File on TAMM.
Step 2: Choosing Your Motorcycle Training Track
YDA - Yas Driving Academy offers two motorcycle course tracks:
- Motorcycle Beginner — for first-time motorcycle license applicants with no previous experience
- Motorcycle Expert — for applicants with previous riding experience
Step 3: Theory, Simulator, and Practical Training
As with light vehicle licensing, motorcycle training combines theory classes covering road rules, simulator sessions, and supervised practical training sessions before you're ready to book your theory and practical tests.
Step 4: Testing and License Issuance
Once training is complete and you have passed your driving school training requirement (theory and practical test), you'll be eligible to book your final road test through TAMM. Passing results in your motorcycle license being issued.
Where to Train
YDA - Yas Driving Academy delivers motorcycle training at both the Yas Marina Circuit and Al Wahda Mall branches, with a paperless, app-based booking system and pay-per-session pricing — no upfront lump-sum payment required. See our courses or the complete Abu Dhabi licensing guide for how this fits the broader process.
